/DRIVE on Facebook just asked the question of what would be a good car to get the Singer treatment, which got me thinking about C2 Corvettes, and people brought up the Porsche 928 also. To me, Singerization is appropriate for a car with a certain transcendence of design, which is possessed IMO by these two cars. Although, the 928 headlights have always looked goofy to me.

OOh I like that idea. It’s a nice design that suffered from cheap execution. It screams preserve but improve me all day!think what they could do with better made front and rear’s and better quality interiors. Not to Mention a good mechanical tweaking. they could be quite lovely.

Love to, but at the rate actual vintage Ferraris are going, the prices for such a Singerfication would be...

I think part of what makes Singer work is the abundance of shells available. So what about something slightly more mass-market, and not really valuable as it sits now?

Kinja'd!!!

It’s a shape that’s instantly recognizable and totally weird in modern traffic. With a some subtle Singer-esque tweaks, it could even be beautiful. Also, weird, which is important.

Kinja'd!!!

let me explain.

the mid late 80's Monte Carlo, the last american “Muscle car” before the current generation to grace the american road ways. Though a “muscle car” in concept and design it never got to really live the life it should have lived. It suffered from a choked engine, poor suspension and an over all lack of quality. even sadder they have suffered at the hands of drag racers and left to rot in barns. it deserves more!

I believe that singer could give these the life they deserve. A nice mechanical shake down, maybe give them the drive train from a c5 or c6, with the manual option. Upgrade the suspensions and of course a lovely redo of the interior with quality materials. I believe these could be sporty and comfortable. we Don;t need another singer sports/race car but a sweet singer GT car based on a Monte Carlo would be awesome!

Earlier Ferraris for sure... lots of amazing design from Italy in the 1960s-70s. Specifically in the Singer context, it seems like those are already too collectible. The nice thing about classic 911s is that they had a value that outshines their market position. They’re not some ultra-exclusive Alfa, and yet with care they can be turned into Singer masterpieces that rise up to that level of attention.

“abundance of shells available” is a big part of why I didn’t go classic Italian.

Sure, there have been many Stratos kits, but just imagine this with a carbon monocoque and body, a modern version of the Dino V6 it used, and today’s ultra-advanced rally gearbox, suspension and tire compounds. Inthe right hand, I reckon it will be able to keep pace with the new ones, and its road version, if well-rendered, will be the most capable and adaptable mid-engine exotic in the world.

Those are two great picks. I don’t know how many shells are around, but the Alpine A110 could be good. Also the BMW 8 series, although they are already relatively modern.

Maybe because I grew up in the 80s surrounded by these cars; they’re always going to look ordinary to me.

they are ordinary. That’s half the beauty of it. allow the ordinary to transcend into something wonderful.

Not to sound like too much of a BMW fanboy, but I would love a Singer style E30... either rusty M3s or just regular 3 series turned into what should make up the soul of an M car.

You’re looking for a car that has an exceptionally clean design that also looks good when fitted with outrageous widebodies. Racing pedigree is important, and a few hairy turbo models are preferred. I present you the Peugeot 205:

55-57 Ford T-Birds, these cars were terrible driving stock (even when new) so they could really benefit from modernization.

I really like this idea. I didn’t really notice these until after I saw the mid-’90s Romeo and Juliet movie. That Capulet car is fantastic even if it’s not what were talking about here.

Anyway, I would like to see these treated well by someone doing something other than donks.

You know, you’re crazy, but the right kind of crazy. They look boring stock, but I’ve seen a few that were cleaned up a bit and I think there’s potential that Singer could really bring out.

haha no, not that monte carlo! haha though I may or may not have been slightly in love with that when the movie came out.

Seriously these things deserve more than being donked out or dragged out.
